The margin
In 2016 the Republican lost New Hampshire's U.S. Senate race by 1,017 votes. Aaron Day, running as an independent, drew 17,742, 17.4 times the margin. New Hampshire elected an all-Democratic federal delegation for the first time since the 33rd Congress, 1853 to 1855, and hasn't elected a Republican to Congress since.
